The application process for Colleges/Universities in Australia might seem a little scary. But every effort you put in will bear fruit once you are chosen in your target University! With proper help, you can manage through the application procedure easily. But do not miss any steps or any deadlines! All the best!

Before You Start

  • Make a list of the admission prerequisites & the eligibility criterion for the target colleges/Universities. Also, check on any country-specific requirements (if provided)
  • Make sure you have notarised copies of all the original documents.

Online Application

  • Most of the institutions have an online application portal where you can apply for their offered courses.
  • Some universities in the region of New South Wales & the Australian Capital Territory accept admissions through a centralisedorganisation called the Universities Admission Centre.
  • Register with your personal details, as mentioned in the Passport.
  • Make sure you check your email inbox regularly. You might be contacted by the Universities. You might get their emails in the spam as well, so be careful while deleting out spams.
  • In the online application, you will be needed to
  • Upload the scanned documents, records and certificates
  • Fill in the details of the candidate as mentioned in the Passport / any other National Identification Proof
  • Provide email addresses of your recommenders
  • Print the application form, sign it (if required) and upload the acknowledgement. Then proceed to submit the application.

Initial Profile Evaluation

  • Usually, your profile is evaluated solely based on the online application, with all documents, records & certificates submitted. You need to just wait for any changes on the application status.
  • Personal Interview: Sometimes, there might be a Skype call or a telephonic interview, where you will be questioned more to evaluate your candidacy.

Document Verification

  • Sometimes, the universities pass a verdictonly based on the online application. You need not give any hard copies of the records & documents if you get selected; your documents shall be verified later when you enrolat the College/University.
  • Instead, institutions might ask you to submit the notarized copies of the documents. The second phase of evaluation is when you provide physical copies. You will then get the final result after a few days.
  • The University/college will send an admit letter only after you confirm your admission at their place via email.

Additional Tips

Follow these to make your application look more attractive and professional.

  • Arrange the records/certificates/documents in the same order as mentioned on the university site.
  • Draft a cover letter, listing all the certificates &documents enclosed and keep it at the top.
  • Use good quality paper to print all the crucial documentation such as SOP, LORs etc. Do not print on both sides.
  • Use paper clips to keep the papers together.
  • Write the name/assigned student ID/assigned application ID on all the important documents with a pencil. This way, your documents won't get mixed with those of other candidates.


  • If you aren't keeping up with the given timeline, it is totally fine! You can start a littlelate, fall behind a few steps or any emergency. You can still manage to accomplish every stage by the given time.
  • The best time for applications is immediately after the commencement of the application period.
  • Please keep all the documents, certificates ¬arised copies ready much earlier to the beginning of the application period, so that you won’t lose time in arranging for it later.
